Level II Voice & Data Technician (Fiber Focus) As commercial construction and data center projects ramp up this summer, the demand for skilled fiber technicians has never been greater. TradeSTAR is partnering with a respected Texas low-voltage contractor to hire experienced Level II Voice & Data Technicians with strong fiber experience for long-term commercial construction and data center projects across Texas. Your Role:
Level II Voice & Data Technician As a Level II Technician, you'll play an important role installing and supporting structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure on commercial construction and data center projects. Working alongside Lead Technicians, Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers, you'll help deliver high-quality installations while supporting production schedules and mentoring less experienced technicians.
Responsibilities Include:
Splicing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cabling Installing and terminating Cat6 and Cat6A structured cabling Performing fiber enclosure, LIU, and patch panel terminations Testing and certifying copper and fiber using Fluke and fiber test equipment Reading blueprints, riser diagrams, and construction drawings Installing cable tray, ladder rack, J-hooks, and support pathways Assisting with rack-and-stack installations and MDF/IDF buildouts Supporting data center installations, upgrades, and MAC work Leading and mentoring Helper and Level I Technicians Maintaining clean, organized, and safe work areas

Data Centers Enterprise Network Installations Multi-Story Commercial Buildings Corporate Campuses Healthcare Facilities Educational Institutions Industrial & Manufacturing Facilities What We're Looking For 2-4+ years of structured cabling or Voice & Data experience Hands-on fiber splicing, termination, and testing experience Experience with fusion splicing is highly preferred Experience installing and terminating copper cabling Familiarity with Fluke testers, OTDRs, and fiber certification equipment preferred Ability to read blueprints and network drawings Leadership or crew mentoring experience is a plus Knowledge of EIA/TIA standards preferred Comfortable working in commercial construction and data center environments Reliable transportation and a professional attitude If you're ready to continue growing toward Lead Technician, Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager, this opportunity provides the foundation for your next career move.
