You'll work side-by-side with our Senior Controls & Field Engineering Specialist on-site at a startup industrial facility in Chester, Virginia, supporting the instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical work that keeps a commissioning project moving. This is an intermediate-level role for someone with real field experience who's ready to jump into loop checks, cable testing, equipment troubleshooting, and documentation support in a fast-moving industrial environment.

Location is flexible:

travel with our team from San Diego on a weekly Monday-to-Friday rotation, work locally if you're Richmond-based, or join us from anywhere else — we'll cover the travel and lodging. This is a temporary assignment of roughly 4 to 12 weeks with possible extension, paying $30-$45/hour depending on experience, plus all travel, lodging, and meals covered when travel is required. You'll be home every weekend. If you have solid I&E and mechanical chops and want hands-on commissioning experience at a real industrial site, we want to hear from you. Responsibilities Assist with instrumentation and electrical (I&E) checkout, loop checks, and commissioning activities Support mechanical tasks including bolting, flanging, and equipment installation assistance Identify issues and fix terminated cables, perform verification work and general electrical support Read and interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics to support field verification Redline P&IDs, complete checklists, and record field data for documentation Run errands, pick up parts and materials, and support general site logistics Work Monday through Friday on-site, coordinating closely with the lead field engineer Qualifications 2+ years of Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) experience, industrial setting preferred 2+ years of mechanical experience, such as piping, equipment assembly, or similar Ability to read P&IDs and basic electrical schematics, or willingness to learn quickly Comfortable working in an industrial or construction environment Reliable, self-motivated, and able to take direction with minimal supervision Willing to work on-site Monday through Friday, with travel if not local to Richmond, VA Valid driver's license required

$30.00 - $45.00 per hour
