POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Technician (Cable) is responsible for performing field operations related to coaxial cable installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, service work, and production-based activities. This role involves working in residential and field environments while following company standards, client requirements, and safety regulations. This is a W-2 employment position offering stable, ongoing work within the telecommunications industry. Technicians represent the company directly in the field and are expected to maintain professionalism, safety awareness, and quality workmanship at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform coaxial cable installation, service, maintenance, and related field work efficiently and accurately
- Complete work orders and service tickets as assigned by supervisors or dispatch
- Report job codes, production, materials used, and hours worked in accordance with Company procedures
- Follow Company standards, client specifications, and operational requirements on all tasks
- Ensure all work meets Quality Control (QC) standards and support inspections when required
- Address and correct any issues identified during QC reviews
- Prevent damage to property, utilities, and infrastructure while performing work
- Report any damage, safety incidents, or job-site issues immediately
- Follow all safety regulations, including Company policies and OSHA requirements
- Properly use and maintain Company tools, equipment, and materials
- Communicate job progress, delays, and issues to supervisors or dispatch
- Maintain professional behavior when interacting with customers and the public
Compensation:
Compensation is based on a production/per-job structure under the company's current rate system. Earnings vary depending on workload, completed jobs, and production level. Most technicians typically average approximately $24-$30 per hour equivalent, with higher earning potential available through increased production and completed services. Typical weekly earnings commonly range between $1,500 and $2,000 based on production and hours worked. All compensation complies with applicable federal and state minimum wage and overtime laws.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to perform physical work (lifting, climbing, digging, bending, and working outdoors or in confined spaces)
- Basic knowledge of coaxial cable installation and service operations
- Ability to read and follow work orders and instructions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to meet scheduling requirements
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong understanding of safety practices and field awareness Additional Requirements Maintain a neat, professional appearance Possess a valid driver's license Have access to a truck, van, or SUV suitable for field work Successfully pass a background check and drug screening Maintain and use the required tool set for the position
