Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet operational, minimize downtime, and support our commitment to excellence in equipment management. This position offers an exciting opportunity for mechanics with a passion for heavy equipment, automotive diagnostics, and fabrication to showcase their skills in a fast-paced environment. Duties Install engines, transmissions and experience with engine overhauls. Independent thinking and capable of diagnostic analysis while getting the job done. We need a real grease monkey that ain't afraid of getting dirty and can work in any weather Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and electrical components on heavy equipment such as diesel buses Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, wheel alignments, and HVAC system checks to extend equipment lifespan. Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately. Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, soldering, power tools, and hand tools to meet specific operational needs. Operate heavy machinery during testing procedures to ensure proper functioning after repairs or assembly. Maintain detailed service records of all repairs and maintenance activities for compliance and future reference. Assist in assembling new equipment or performing upgrades that require mechanical knowledge and precision fitting. Experience Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment repair, preferably on the road, within a repair shop or industrial setting. Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes (including air brake systems), suspension systems, and electrical diagnostics. Experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with schematics is essential. Hands-on experience working with OEM parts on Caterpillar equipment or similar brands like John Deere or Komatsu is highly desirable. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently during testing or troubleshooting phases. Skilled in using power tools, hand tools, diagnostic software, and service manuals to perform precise repairs. Excellent ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members And work with drivers to keep them on the road.
