Qualifications:
High school or general education diploma Documented (certificates of completion) training in diesel engine repair and overhaul Documented experience with diesel engine repair and maintenance Knowledge of tire inspection Ability to inspect school buses to meet Arkansas state standards Possesses Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger, school bus, and air brakes endorsements Reports to: Transportation Supervisor

Terms of Employment:
The contract length will be 260 days.
Evaluation:
Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the transportation supervisor.
Job Goal:
The Bus Mechanic will endeavor to assist the transportation supervisor with everyday operations of the Transportation Shop.
Performance Responsibilities:
Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures. Oversees and directs shop personnel on their everyday duties. Performs maintenance and operation of equipment. Prioritizes mechanical failures. Inventories parts, tools, and equipment. Maintains all shop areas. Aids in processing severe weather threats. Keeps & maintains all shop records and reports. Trains and prepares potential new drivers for (CDL) testing. Available for transportation problems that may arise after normal working hours. Drives school buses when directed by Transportation Supervisor Other duties, as assigned.
