Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of machinery used across various industries, including construction, transportation, and agriculture. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brake systems, suspension components, and electrical systems using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and diagnostic tools. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, wheel alignments, and fluid checks to keep equipment operating at peak efficiency. Repair and fabricate components for heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers using hand tools and power tools. Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues involving welding, soldering, assembly, and equipment repair to restore functionality quickly and effectively. Operate heavy equipment safely during repairs or testing phases to ensure proper functioning post-maintenance or repair. Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance activities; interpret schematics and technical manuals to guide troubleshooting efforts. Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly and offering recommendations for ongoing maintenance needs. Requirements Proven experience working as a Diesel Mechanic within a dealership or industrial setting with a strong background in heavy equipment repair. Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brake systems, HVAC systems related to industrial machinery. Ability to read and interpret OEM schematics and technical manuals accurately. Skilled in fabricating parts or components using welding and metalworking techniques; experience with fabrication tools is preferred. Hands-on experience with excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, tractor-trailers or similar heavy equipment is highly desirable. Proficiency in automotive diagnostics software and electrical troubleshooting methods. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to perform heavy lifting safely; familiarity with power tools and hand tools essential. Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs. Valid certifications in diesel engine repair; certifications in brake systems (air brakes), hydraulics or suspension systems are advantageous.
