Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Diesel Mechanic and Yard Manager to join our team! This vital role combines expert diesel engine repairwith efficient yard operations management, ensuring our fleet and equipment are maintained at peak performance. As a Diesel Mechanic and Yard Manager, you will lead maintenance efforts, oversee yard activities, and ensure safety and productivity across all operations. Your hands-on mechanical expertise, coupled with strong leadership skills, will drive our success forward. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with heavy equipment, farm machinery, and industrial vehicles in a fast-paced environment dedicated to excellence. Duties Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and electrical components using schematics and diagnostic tools Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, wheel alignments, and air brake inspections to maximize equipment uptime Fabricate parts or modifications using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to meet operational needs Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and other industrial machinery safely and efficiently Manage yard activities by coordinating vehicle movement, overseeing loading/unloading processes, maintaining safety protocols, and ensuring proper storage of equipment Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, parts inventory, and service logs for compliance and reporting purposes in coordination with our Procurement Manager. Maintain and track yard inventory in coordination with our Procurement Manager. Qualifications Proven experience as a diesel mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment experience preferred Heavy equipment worked on such as Caterpillar, Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive repair including transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and tire service Skilled in reading schematics and using diagnostic tools for troubleshooting complex issues Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; ability to work with hand tools and power tools safely Ability to operate heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers with confidence Excellent leadership skills with experience managing yard operations or a team of technicians Knowledge of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and vehicle maintenance standards Join us if you're passionate about maintaining top-tier machinery while leading efficient yard operations!
