In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting marine diesel engines and associated mechanical and electrical systems on water transportation equipment. Your expertise will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of marine vessels, supporting our commitment to excellence in marine maintenance and service. This position offers an exciting opportunity for technicians with a passion for marine mechanics and electrical systems to showcase their skills in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on marine diesel engines, propulsion systems, and related mechanical components using schematics, technical drawings, and engineering troubleshooting techniques. Conduct electrical diagnostics and maintenance on ship electrical systems, including troubleshooting marine electrical systems and performing repairs with power tools, soldering equipment, and precision measuring instruments such as ohmmeters and calipers. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, sheet metal fabrication tools, and rigging techniques to assemble, repair, or modify mechanical systems and structural components. Maintain water transportation equipment by inspecting, servicing, and repairing marine engines, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and watercraft propulsion units to ensure optimal performance. Follow safety protocols by properly using personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to industry standards for heavy lifting, welding, soldering, and fabrication tasks. Interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs efficiently. Collaborate with team members to perform routine maintenance operations (MRO), ensuring all work complies with safety regulations and quality standards while delivering excellent customer service. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician specializing in marine engines or diesel mechanics; experience with ship electrical systems maintenance is highly desirable. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in marine propulsion systems maintenance and water transportation equipment repair. Familiarity with schematics interpretation, electrical diagnostics, assembly processes, fabrication techniques including sheet metal work, welding, soldering, and use of precision measuring instruments. Experience working with military-grade equipment or within military environments is a plus. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, calipers, ohmmeters, soldering irons, heavy lifting gear and other specialized maintenance tools safely and effectively. Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting techniques specific to marine electrical systems; experience with engine repair is essential. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong customer service orientation to communicate effectively with clients and team members alike. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly while maintaining safety standards; comfort working in confined or challenging environments is necessary. Certification or training in safety procedures related to PPE use; familiarity with maintenance operations (MRO) practices preferred.
