Summary We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Groome Transportation. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of diesel vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will contribute significantly to our mission of providing reliable transportation services. Responsibilities 1. Support the operation of the campus shuttle and/or airport shuttle maintenance services 2. Understand Fleetio Maintenance Software and its total operation to Fleet Services Report any and all maintenance issues to the Fleet (Shop) Manager or Regional Fleet Manager. Maintain equipment to OEM standards. 3. Utilize Fleetio software to input repairs, work orders and parts. 4. After hour on call as scheduled. Additional on call required during inclement weather. After hour driver emergencies to include roadside emergencies. 5. Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers. 6. Familiarity with and competency in use of computer diagnostic software to troubleshoot and repair engine failures. 7. Ability to learn Cummins Insite, Ford IDS and Basic OBD2 scan tools to troubleshoot diagnostic trouble codes. 8. Ensure repairs noted on DVIRs are completed in a timely manner and DVIRs are signed off in Fleetio and Motive. 9. Ability to operate floor jacks, hydraulic lifts and Power Tools. 10. Ability to Remove and install tires. 11. Sign off for Parts delivered to shop after hours and report to Fleet Manager/Director of Maintenance the next day. 12. Complete all safety-related issues prior to next shift. 13. Work at the direction of the Fleet/Shop Manager. 14. Maintain required licensing including but not limited to drivers' license, ASE certifications and Medical Card. 15. Complete Quarterly Safety Training as directed. 16. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications and Education Requirements 1. Valid driver's license, Class B CDL with P endorsement preferred 2. Must obtain CDL within 90 days of employment where heavy duty CDL buses are operated 3. Minimum of 2 years' experience in the transportation mechanic field 4. ASE certification or equivalent technical or trade school 5. Able to utilize Microsoft office Outlook and the internet 6. Must be able to pass pre-hire drug screen and physical 7. Complete pre-employment background check 8. Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. throughout the day, as well as bend for extended periods working on low area equipment Preferred Skills 1. Excellent customer service 2. Basic working knowledge of the following systems: HVAC, air, hydraulic, exhaust suspension, transmission, engine, brakes, electrical, oil and water 3. Diesel mechanics must have working knowledge of the
DPF, DOC, DEF, SCR, DPF
regeneration and turbo VGT actuator systems Working knowledge of the heavy-duty suspension system to include: wheel seals, King Pins, air bags, rotors, and gas shocks.
