You will use your technical expertise to diagnose and resolve issues, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vehicles. Your experience and skills will play a key role in maintaining the reliability of our assets. Requirements of the Job Display a professional and cooperative attitude during interactions with other departments and maintenance team members. Respond to breakdowns and emergency repairs at locations other than the home yard. Periodically, travel to other yards to conduct repairs and routine maintenance. Diagnose complex issues and perform repairs on vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to intricate electrical system troubleshooting, removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, rebuilding, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems. Ability to maintain and repair items related to tank repair including but not limited to plumping, meters, power take-offs, pumps, valves, and poppets. Perform Federal DOT and State BIT inspections, complete manufacturer preventive maintenance schedules, install component and part upgrades, control corrosion, complete seasonal preparation procedures, and schedule repairs with an outside vendor if needed. When possible, contain costs by using warranty claims, evaluating service and parts options. Adhere to Federal DOT and State BIT regulations, and manufacturer guides. Ensure the proper disposal of shop waste, yard waste, and HAZ MAT. Adhere to OSHA and company safety protocols. Ensure the shop is clean, organized, and in good repair. Utilize company licensed software to maintain comprehensive records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on each task. Utilize welding and fabrication skills to repair/modify components when necessary. Work closely and communicate with other departments to schedule asset repairs and inform necessary parties on the status of asset repairs. Assist with driver/operator training when necessary. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to procure the parts, supplies and special equipment needed to maintain our assets. Stay up to date with industry advancements, tools, and technologies. Participate in educational opportunities, read technical and regulation publications. Complete other duties which may be directed. Qualifications Must have own tools. Maintain the ability to be covered under company insurance when operating company vehicles. High school diploma or equivalent. Formal technical training in medium/heavy-duty diesel/unleaded vehicles and equipment mechanics. 5+ years heavy-duty diesel truck and equipment repair experience. Advanced knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, suspension, electrical, air brake, and hydraulic system troubleshooting. Minor welding and fabrication skills. Excellent communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Physical The ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (50+ pounds). Bending, stooping, and working in awkward positions.
