The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently as well as part of a team, ensuring that all diesel equipment operates efficiently and safely. As our shop foreman, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and excellence of our workshop and out-of-state locations. Here are the key responsibilities for this position: Responsibilities Overseeing the daily floor operations of the maintenance department. Assign jobs to technician and follow up on all jobs. Participate and assist with Maintenance Admin Support functions and duties. Assist maintenance teams with diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues promptly. Provide technical guidance to technicians during complex repairs. Collaborate with team members to complete projects in a timely manner while maintaining high-quality standards. Perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment in optimal condition. Work with dispatch to coordinate repairs and maintenance. Provide a daily update to dispatch regarding repairs and maintenance. Trouble shoot and diagnose engine problems and perform necessary repairs Diagnose and repair diesel engines, including performing maintenance on air brake systems and hydraulic components. Conduct inspections and routine maintenance on various types of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Repair or replace parts such as shocks, struts, brakes, and other critical components. Assemble and solder electrical connections as needed for repairs. Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot electrical issues effectively. Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on equipment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team Communicate effectively with management and team members Assist with after-hours road calls as needed Skills Proficiency in diagnosing issues with diesel engines, including knowledge of air brake systems. Engine experience with Paccar, Cummins, and Detroit. Experience with brake repair, shocks, struts, and general mechanical assembly. Familiarity with PTO and Hydraulics Ability to read and interpret technical schematics for troubleshooting purposes. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. Requirements Minimum 3 years of experience as a lead/supervisor/foreman Diesel repair: 5 years (Required) Trailer repair: 3 years (Required) Engine Experience with Paccar, Cummins, and Detroit Knowledge of PTO and Hydraulics Have own tools - enough for the job Must pass a pre-employment drug screen. Must pass a pre-employment background check. Able to climb, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, etc. to repair vehicles Ability to work full time and after hours as needed Able to lead a team of shop employees effectively Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation Must be a team player with a flexible schedule to fill in as needed throughout our facility Familiarity with DOT and OSHA regulations Preferred but not required Class A License with tanker endorsement Welding/Fabrication Bilingual (English/Spanish) Previous experience working in a dealership environment is a plus but not required.
