Position Summary:

The Mechanic will complete maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy equipment, vehicles, and Class A CDL vehicles at the Keenesburg, CO shop. This role ensures the shop operates efficiently and adheres to safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on skilled mechanic with expertise in heavy equipment, vehicle maintenance, GPS tracking systems, team management, and preventative maintenance programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repairs:

Perform and oversee the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, Class A CDL vehicles, and hauling equipment, including excavators, dozers, graders, BOTH Green and Yellow Iron Tractors & Heavy Equipment , and trailers. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues. Ensure all equipment and vehicles are repaired to meet safety and operational standards.

GPS Tracking Installation and Maintenance:

Oversee the installation of GPS tracking systems in vehicles and equipment to support operational efficiency and compliance. Troubleshoot and maintain GPS systems to ensure accurate functionality. Provide training and support for staff on the use of GPS tracking systems.

Preventative Maintenance:

Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for the fleet. Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.

Inventory and Parts Management:

Monitor and manage inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to order necessary parts and materials.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all shop activities comply with OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards. Conduct regular safety inspections and address potential hazards.

Collaboration and Communication:

Coordinate with field operations to ensure equipment and vehicles are available and reliable. Communicate with management on shop performance, equipment needs, and budget considerations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment and vehicle repair and maintenance, including Class A CDL vehicles and hauling equipment. Previous leadership or supervisory experience required. Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Experience with GPS tracking system installation and maintenance. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying conditions. Valid Class A CDL preferred.
