SENIOR DIESEL TECHNICIAN

Astatula, FL (heavy haul and oversize carrier, in-house shop) We are a 20+ unit heavy haul fleet that runs heavy commodities on RGN lowboys, flatbeds, and step-deck trailers. You will be joining a highly motivated and cohesive shop, which excels in engine rebuilds, diesel engine maintenance, and all things heavy haul.

WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO

Engine work is the priority: In-frame and out-of-frame overhauls on Detroit, Cummins, and Cat Cylinder kits, liner and sleeve work, main and rod bearings, crank inspection and measurement Head work, valve jobs, injector and injector cup replacement, cam and roller work Plastigauge, dial indicator, endplay and preload checks, torque to spec every time Oil cooler, front and rear structure, gasket and seal work done clean the first time Break-in, road test, and verification before the truck leaves the yard Everything else that keeps a heavy haul fleet moving: Electrical diagnosis from schematics. Voltage drop testing, harness repair, chasing intermittent faults instead of guessing Aftertreatment and emissions. DPF, DOC, SCR, EGR, doser, NOx and DEF systems, forced regens, sensor and wiring diagnosis Manual transmissions and differentials. 10, 13, and 18 speed, deep reduction, clutch, driveline and u-joint, rear end service on 40k and 46k rears Air and brake systems on tractors and multi-axle trailers. Foundation brakes, S-cams, slack adjusters, air bags, valves, ABS diagnosis, air lines Cooling and fuel systems, charge air, radiators, fan clutches, lift pumps, high pressure fuel HVAC and A/C diagnosis and repair Trailer work. RGN detachable goosenecks, deck and neck hydraulics, pumps, cylinders, hoses and fittings, wet kits and PTO, king pins, suspensions, wheel ends and bearings, landing gear, ramps, tarp systems, lighting and 7-way wiring Welding and light fabrication on decks, ramps, brackets, and mounts is a strong plus

SOFTWARE AND DIAGNOSTICS

You must be able to pull codes, read live data, run tests, and interpret what you are looking at. Detroit DiagnosticLink, Cummins Insite or Guidanz, Cat ET, and general OEM and aftermarket scan tools. Knowing how to run the software matters. Knowing what the data is telling you matters more.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 10 years hands-on heavy duty diesel experience, Class 8 Proven engine building experience on Detroit, Cummins, and Cat. Be ready to talk through the last three engines you built, what failed, and what you found Comfortable across multiple makes: Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack, Western Star Own hand tools and toolbox. Shop provides specialty tooling, air, lifts, and heavy equipment support (bringing your own tools is welcome) Able to read and work from schematics and service manuals Team player Valid driver's license. Ability to road test is required. CDL is a plus, not required Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
