Job Description
Experienced Diesel & Commercial Vehicle Mechanic About Us Safeguard America, Inc. is a leader in transportation and security services across South Florida. We operate a large fleet of motorcoaches, vans, and commercial vehicles and are seeking a highly skilled, dependable, and experienced mechanic to join our growing maintenance team. Position Overview We are hiring an experienced Diesel & Commercial Vehicle Mechanic with a strong background in diesel engines, commercial vehicle maintenance, bodywork, welding, and general repairs. The ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanic who can handle everything from preventative maintenance and engine diagnostics to body repairs and minor electrical troubleshooting. This is a full-time position requiring flexibility and dependability. Candidates must be available for early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and on-call emergency repairs as needed. A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and ASE certification are required. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and full-service repairs on diesel and gas-powered commercial vehicles. Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and other critical vehicle systems. Perform bodywork, welding, panel replacement, painting, and cosmetic repairs. Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical issues, including lights, relays, wiring, and harnesses. Conduct vehicle inspections and identify maintenance or safety issues to help ensure DOT compliance. Respond to emergency repairs and vehicle breakdowns as needed. Maintain accurate records of repairs, preventative maintenance, parts used, and labor hours. Keep tools and work areas organized and maintain a safe shop environment. Collaborate with other maintenance staff and promptly report significant vehicle issues to management. Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of professional automotive or diesel mechanic experience. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Current ASE certification required. Strong experience working with diesel engines and commercial vehicles ; motorcoach, bus, or truck experience is strongly preferred. Hands-on experience with bodywork, painting, and welding. Working knowledge of automotive electrical systems and diagnostic procedures. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and complete repairs independently. Flexible availability, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely perform physically demanding work.
