Pay Range:
$33-$35 per hour (based on experience) Position Overview Florida Express Waste & Recycling, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a safety‑conscious and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Ocala, FL. This role is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a fleet of diesel trucks and equipment, including electrical and hydraulic systems. #
ACMaintenance Schedule Primary Schedule:
10:00 AM - 8:00
PM Training Schedule:
Early morning hours during initial training period
Days:
Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed Pay $33-$35 hourly , based on experience CDL preferred (not required) Duties & Responsibilities Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on diesel trucks and equipment Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using computerized diagnostic systems Initiate repairs or assign corrective actions as needed Perform safety inspections and operational checks on fleet equipment Review and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) Accurately document all maintenance activities using fleet maintenance software Track parts usage and repair time Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift Work performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Exposure to: Moving mechanical parts Fumes and vibration Moderate noise levels Must follow all standard safety precautions at all times Minimum Requirements 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred Strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems Familiarity with fleet maintenance software and inspection protocols Ability to work independently and within a team environment Comfortable working in physically demanding conditions year‑round What We Offer ✅ Competitive pay ✅ Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance ✅ Flexible Spending Account (FSA) ✅ Long‑Term Disability & Life Insurance ✅ 401(k) Retirement Plan ✅ Paid vacation and holidays ✅ Year‑round job stability ✅ Supportive and safety‑focused management team Waste Connections is an equal opportunity employer.
