Fort Lauderdale, Florida Position Overview TopTier Florida T.T.S.C. Corp. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair a mixed fleet of heavy-duty trucks and propane-powered forklifts. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, experienced shop mechanic with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Candidates with practical experience in diesel mechanics, hydraulics, 12-volt electrical systems, welding, and machining are highly preferred. This position is best suited for a well-rounded mechanic who is comfortable working independently, diagnosing problems, performing repairs, and maintaining multiple types of heavy equipment. Equipment Approximately 10 heavy-duty trucks, including Mack, Freightliner, and Western Star Approximately 20 Toyota propane forklifts Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on heavy-duty trucks and forklifts Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems Repair and service brakes, tires, suspension systems, and related components Remove and replace hydraulic cylinder seals Remove and replace hydraulic hoses and fittings Perform 12-volt electrical repairs and diagnostics Inspect, adjust, repair, and replace components as necessary Perform welding repairs using in-house welding equipment Perform light machining and repair work using an in-house lathe Conduct routine inspections and identify potential mechanical issues before they result in equipment downtime Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Work independently while prioritizing repairs and preventive maintenance according to operational needs Required Qualifications Proven hands-on experience as a Diesel Mechanic Experience servicing and repairing heavy-duty trucks Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities Experience working with hydraulic systems Experience with 12-volt electrical systems Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues Practical shop experience with heavy equipment and commercial vehicles Preferred Qualifications Experience maintaining propane-powered forklifts Experience working on Toyota forklifts Welding experience Machining experience, including use of a lathe Experience troubleshooting multiple mechanical systems Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded, hands-on shop mechanic who can diagnose problems and complete repairs with minimal supervision. We are looking for someone with practical mechanical experience who understands how equipment operates and can confidently troubleshoot issues across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Formal education or academic training is valued, but strong hands-on experience and demonstrated mechanical ability are the primary priorities for this position.
