Waste Pro is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic A / Heavy-Duty Fleet Technician for our West Palm Beach maintenance facility. This position is ideal for a skilled technician with experience diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks, CNG vehicles, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, emissions systems, and heavy-duty vocational equipment. You will work on a fleet that includes Mack, Peterbilt, Freightliner, and Autocar trucks; Heil and McNeilus refuse bodies; diesel and Compressed Natural Gas vehicles; Liquefied Petroleum Gas and hybrid-powered equipment; and hydraulic, electrical, emissions, drivetrain, and brake systems.

Ability to perform general engine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs. Ability to perform transmission inspections, diagnostics, and repairs. Ability to perform outside repair inspection reviews. Ability to assess structural damage and determine the necessary repairs. Ability to provide assistance, guidance, and direction to all shop technicians. CDL Class B license preferred, or the ability to obtain a CDL Class B license. Ability to obtain seven (7) ASE Certifications, or the equivalent, within 36 months of employment. Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements related to commercial vehicle fleet maintenance. Ability to effectively use computers for data tracking, communication, maintenance software (Dossier), Microsoft Office, and other job-related applications. Work safely around heavy equipment, chemicals, and residential waste. Walk, climb, bend, crouch, kneel, twist, and lift throughout the workday. Maintain the stamina required to perform physically demanding work at a steady pace. Wear and properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Frequently enter and exit the cab of a commercial vehicle, up to 50-100 times per day. Frequently lift 50-75 pounds from floor to waist level without assistance. Frequently lift to 50 pounds from floor to shoulder height and overhead without assistance. Push and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance. Frequently bend, reach overhead, extend arms, and twist at the waist throughout the workday. Work safely in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and other outdoor environments, including road calls when necessary. Work Environment This position is performed both indoors and outdoors and requires working in a busy maintenance shop with frequent exposure to heavy equipment, vehicle traffic, noise, dirt, grease, chemicals, and varying weather conditions.
