Position:
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Fleet and Fabrication Services, overhauls and maintains vehicles, construction equipment, small engines, hydraulic equipment, and tools.
Shift Information:
There are two shifts for this position. Hours are either Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pmORHours are Monday - Friday 2:00pm to 10:30pmThere is an additional 5% per hour shift pay differential for the PM shift

OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and vehicles when malfunctions occur. Determines the appropriate method of corrections. Reviews work orders on vehicles, mobile equipment, and construction equipment. Disassembles motors and other equipment parts and rebuilds, repairs, and/or replaces necessary parts. Inspects and checks performance of equipment and vehicles to ensure maximum performance and safety, and to identify repairs and maintenance required. Estimates time, parts, tools, and equipment needed for repairs; compiles and submits list to obtain items; confers with the Fleet Manager if a significant amount of time and/or cost is involved. Maintains records of service to equipment according to established procedures. Operates heavy equipment to transport malfunctioning equipment so that necessary repairs can be made. Performs routine preventative maintenance on vehicles and/or equipment such as changing oil, filters and grease, rotating & changing tires, etc. Uses vehicle maintenance software, e-mail and electronic calendar, and other computer software programs. Performs minor welding repairs on vehicles and equipment. Performs other duties of a similar nature.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Two-year technical certificate in automotive or diesel mechanics.
Experience:
Two years full-time employment as an automotive or diesel mechanic. Five additional years' full-time employment experience may substitute for required education.
Licenses/Certifications:
Must possess a valid State of Iowa Class B W/Airbrakes commercial driver's license within 90 days of appointment. This position requires Driver remain insurable under the Company's coverage.
Age:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Occasionally lifts in excess of 50 pounds; frequently lifts 20 pounds. Frequent Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Generally inside garage work with occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions. Occasional exposure to petroleum products.
