Trans, Inc. is a growing trucking company based in Elgin, IL, with an in-house diesel mechanic shop dedicated to maintaining our fleet and providing repair services for customer-owned tractors and trailers. We specialize in preventative maintenance, diagnostics, heavy-duty repairs, roadside assistance, and emergency breakdowns. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Tractor/Trailer Diesel Mechanic to join our team. 2+ years of experience working on heavy duty diesel vehicles Strong teamwork skills
- Problem Solving Skills (Required) Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor Valid driver's license CDL A Driver's License preferred but not required. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing semi-trucks (Volvo, Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt) and trailers. Fluent in Spanish (Preferred)
Software Knowledge:
Tatems (Preferred) Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet)
- Welding experience is a plus!
Job Responsibilities Included:
- Conduct diagnostics on Semi's (Volvo, Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt) and 53' Trailers (Dry Van, Flatbeds).
- Perform minor and major repairs on semi-trucks and trailers: Engine Repair, Suspension System, Replacing Transmissions/Rear Ends, Drive Line Components, Air Brake Systems, Clutches, Electrical Systems, Emission System's, Etc. Experience with Detroit, Cummins & Caterpillar engines is preferred.
- Perform Oil Changes and Federal Annual Inspections.
- Collaborate closely with team members and Safety Manager.
- Follow OSHA regulations and requirements.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance on semi-trucks and trailers.
- Maintain inventory and cleanliness in the shop.
- Conduct regular diagnostic tests on trucks.
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports of all repairs performed for compliance and work orders.
- Some tasks included but are not limited to, responsible for the maintenance of the building, yard, and equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 pounds from the ground. Ability to stand on your feet for multiple hours at a time. Ability to crouch, kneel, bend over. Fine motor skills to operate hand tools, computers, small parts.
Education:
High school or equivalent (Preferred) Technical Training/Certification (Preferred) S.T.I.
