at Cummins Inc. in Normal, Illinois, United States Job Description We are looking for a talented Technician Apprentice to join our team specializing in Diesel Engines for our Distribution Business in Normal, IL. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: + During your apprenticeship, you are a full-time, paid employee who will complete a development program with the support of our coaching technicians and managers. + Our agreement with you ensures you receive the following upon successful completion: + Associate in Applied Science ( AAS ) degree, Automotive & Diesel Technology• + U.S. Department of Labor Trade Certificates for Diesel Engines No college debt - Cummins pays for your education/ Course credits that are transferable towards a bachelor's degree To be successful in this role you will need the following: + Passionate about working with your hands + Ability to work with small hand tools while maintaining overall safety + Ability to stand for prolonged periods + Ability to lift to 50 lbs. Education/Experience Applicants must meet the minimum community college general education course requirement of 2.8 GPA High School (unweighted), or 22 ACT score, or GED with one year of college including Math and English with a minimum 2.8 GPA + Technical Escalation - Obtains product technical issue information and utilizes available resources including data management tools; elevates issues to a higher level of expertise, balancing timeliness of customer response with investigation efforts; captures all troubleshooting steps in the appropriate database in order to ensure seamless transitions and accurate response to ticket resolution in a timely manner. + Values differences - Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization. + Health and Safety Fundamentals - Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace. + Nimble learning - Actively learning through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as learning fodder. + Plans and aligns - Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals. + College Education Criteria + Must meet minimum Unweighted 2.8 High School GPA and meet College Entry Level Requirements for English, Math and Reading Comprehension or, + Minimum ACT score of 22 (Must still supply HS transcript) or + Meet College SAT Requirements for Math, English and Reading + Candidates out of High School over 5 years must provide transcript and take an Accuplacer or ACT regardless of the Unweighted HS GPA + All three partner colleges administer a college placement test during orientation + If the student doesn't pass he/she is required to take a full semester of the respective class and pass the placement test before enrolling in the Math, English or Reading Comprehension Class (college requirement not Cummins) Job Service Organization Cummins Inc.
