Hiring Range Mechanic Helper:
$17.00 to $19.00
Per Hour Mechanic Level I:
$20.00 to $24.00
Per Hour Mechanic Level II:
$24.00 to $28.00
Per Hour Mechanic Level III:
$28.00 to $30.00 Per Hour Mechanic Level 4: $30 to $32.00 Per Hour We welcome mechanics at all skill levels and experience. Your pay will reflect your expertise. As a selected technician, you will perform essential vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs on school buses and trucks. This includes diagnostics, engine repairs, electrical system work, and vehicle maintenance.
Essential Functions:
Conduct routine vehicle maintenance, including tune-ups, oil changes, electrical system checks, and brake repairs. Perform corrective maintenance, including engine repair and hydraulic, electronic, and electrical repairs. Complete preventative maintenance inspections. Utilize diagnostic tools for engine analysis. Conduct required Illinois State inspections. Maintain a safe and professional work area. Perform other duties as assigned, with complexity varying based on your skill level. Physical Demands This role involves standing, stooping, bending, and the use of equipment requiring dexterity and strength. Minimum Qualifications You should be able to: Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and maintain major bus components. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Use various hand and power tools. Read blueprints and schematic drawings. Establish effective working relationships. Model respectful behavior. Education A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with an Associate's Degree or Trade School diploma preferred. Experience You should have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience as a mechanic. Certifications The ability to obtain a CDL Class B license (we provide training) and a valid driver's license issued by the State of Illinois.
