This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and refrigeration units to ensure optimal performance and safety. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with heavy equipment, vehicle systems, and refrigeration technology, contributing to our commitment to reliable fleet operations. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, refrigeration units, and related mechanical systems using schematics and automotive electrical system repair techniques. Perform repairs and maintenance on reefer units, including HVAC systems, compressors, condensers, and evaporators. Repair and service heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to execute repairs efficiently. Inspect and repair vehicle components including transmissions, suspensions, brakes, shocks & struts, air brakes, alignments, hydraulics, and steering systems. Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed on diesel engines and vehicle systems for fleet management. Assist with equipment assembly, installation of new components, and preventive maintenance routines to minimize downtime. Support tire service operations including mounting, balancing, and replacing tires on trucks and heavy machinery. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot electrical issues such as automotive electrical system repair and soldering tasks. Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards while providing exceptional customer service. Requirements Proven experience as a diesel mechanic with dealership experience preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy truck repair, automotive diagnostics, transmissions, suspension systems, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and electrical components. Demonstrated ability to read schematics and technical manuals for complex machinery. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication tools for equipment repair. Experience working with heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures for tractor-trailers and industrial vehicles. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with effective communication abilities. Valid certifications or licenses related to diesel engine repair or heavy equipment mechanics are advantageous.
