Powertrain Hydraulics Full Job Description Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities Include:
Follow a checklist of inspection procedures Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions Read and interpret diagnostic test results, often by using dials, gauges, and other computer equipment Raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles Do routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment Disassemble and reassemble equipment and parts Test drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly 1. At least 1 years as a diesel mechanic and /or completion of recognized heavy equipment or diesel technical college, experience in automotive/truck, light or heavy equipment maintenance and repair. 3. Have a strong mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of Power Train, Diesel engines, and Hydraulic systems. 4. Valid Driver's License. Class A or B preferred but not needed 5. Some familiarity with D.O.T. Inspections 6. Must be able to work well with others. 7. Completion of training course in heavy-duty truck brakes or air brakes systems. 8. Must be able to read codes and instructions on the computer. 9. Must be able to document repairs on the computer.
