Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Shop Manager and Diesel Mechanic, where you will lead our service operations and ensure the highest standards of vehicle and equipment maintenance. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing daily shop activities, managing a team of technicians, and delivering exceptional customer service. Your technical skills and managerial acumen will drive efficiency, safety, and quality in our shop environment, supporting a wide range of heavy equipment, farm machinery, and commercial vehicles. Responsibilities Supervise daily shop operations, ensuring timely and quality repairs of diesel engines, heavy equipment, and industrial machinery. Lead and mentor a team of mechanics and technicians, fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment. Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex issues across various equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and trailer trucks. Conduct fabrication tasks such as welding, soldering, assembly, and equipment modifications to meet customer specifications. Maintain detailed service records, ensure compliance with safety standards, and manage inventory of parts and tools. Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair processes and ensuring client satisfaction with workmanship. Skills Extensive experience with heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and industrial machinery. Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, mechanical repairs, tire service, brake repair, wheel alignment, shocks & struts replacement. Strong knowledge of hydraulics, suspension systems, transmissions, air brake systems, and electrical troubleshooting. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons and other maintenance tools for repairs and fabrication. Ability to read schematics accurately for complex mechanical or electrical troubleshooting. Experience in service technician roles with a focus on vehicle maintenance for farm machinery or heavy-duty trucks. Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients. Capable of heavy lifting safely while performing maintenance or repairs on large equipment or vehicles.
