Job Description

Western Excavating is a premier heavy construction, site development, ready-mix and asphalt supply company located in Missoula, MT. As a family-owned, local business it has a long history in the community, years of experience, and has been instrumental in the development of Missoula and surrounding communities and their infrastructure. We are currently seeking an individual with Heavy Equipment and/or Truck Diesel Mechanic with the ability to work productively within a team environment. Strong organization, documentation of maintenance records, and prioritization of maintenance budgets is vital to this position. The Duties & Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities:
Comprehensive understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and other mechanical needs of excavation equipment. Ability to interpret service manuals and wiring diagrams 2+ years recent fleet, automotive or truck vehicle maintenance shop experience - formal education can potentially offset years of experience. Ability to identify and resolve a wide range of equipment failure/inconsistencies, worn or damaged parts, utilizing visual inspection in conjunction with computerized analysis to troubleshoot vehicle systems and perform quality repairs Adherence to safety standards, DOT regulations/guidelines, injury reporting, accident reporting, and proper identification of new vehicle damage in a timely manner Capability of reading and understanding technical service manuals in English and the ability to communicate in oral and written form. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds while on back in horizontal position for prolonged periods Ability to hoist any size vehicle with a lift device using foot or arm pumping motion Ability to organize workflow, delegate same to other mechanics, and follow-up to ensure work is done on a timely and quality basis. Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time throughout the shift Able to lift and carry 50 lbs. to mid-body using proper lifting techniques Valid CDL is preferred.
