Job Description

SpartanNash Associates, LLC is seeking a Diesel Fleet Mechanic to keep our delivery fleet safe, reliable, and road ready. You will perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel tractors, trailers, and material handling equipment, focusing on preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Responsibilities include troubleshooting engines, brakes, electrical, and hydraulic systems, documenting work in maintenance systems, and ensuring DOT and safety compliance. You'll work closely with operations teams in a fast paced retail distribution environment that values safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel tractors, trailers, and material handling equipment Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime Troubleshoot and repair engine, brake, electrical, hydraulic, and cooling systems Use diagnostic tools, manuals, and schematics to identify and resolve mechanical issues Maintain accurate service records in fleet maintenance/CMMS systems Ensure compliance with DOT, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies Coordinate with operations and dispatch to prioritize repairs and equipment availability Support a clean, safe, and organized shop environment, following all safety procedures Required Skills Diesel engine diagnostics and repair Hydraulic and pneumatic systems maintenance Brake and suspension systems repair Electrical and electronic systems troubleshooting Preventive maintenance scheduling Use of diagnostic software and scan tools Welding and basic fabrication Reading technical manuals and schematics Fleet maintenance documentation and CMMS use DOT and safety compliance knowledge
