Cox Paving is seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Diesel Technician to join our team. In this role, you will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide variety of construction equipment, both in the shop and out in the field. Construction Diesel Technician Responsibilities:

Mechanical Diagnostics & Repair:
Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and transmissions. Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical issues and make data-driven repairs. 2.
Preventive Maintenance:
Perform scheduled PMs on construction equipment and fleet vehicles to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life. Conduct inspections of tires, fluid levels, filters, and wear components using checklists and OEM guidelines. 3.
Field Service & Emergency Repairs:
Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites and perform field-based repairs quickly and safely. Communicate with operators and supervisors to assess issues and determine repair priorities. 4.
Equipment Variety & Versatility:
Maintain and repair a wide range of equipment including: Excavators, dozers, loaders, pavers, rollers, dump trucks, trailers, and company trucks. Flex between shop work and field support based on operational needs. 5.
Documentation & Safety Compliance:
Accurately record maintenance activities, inspections, and parts used in service software or paper logs. Follow safety protocols, PPE requirements, and company policies at all times. Support DOT and OSHA compliance through proper recordkeeping and safe practices.
Desired Qualifications:
2+ years of hands-on experience as a diesel technician, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment setting. High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications in diesel or heavy equipment repair preferred. Valid driver's license; ability to obtain DOT Medical Card (CDL a plus). Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mobile equipment diagnostics. Ability to weld, fabricate, or perform basic fabrication repairs is a plus. Must be dependable, safety-focused, and capable of working independently or with a team. EOE/M/F/Disabled/Veteran/DFSP
