Monday-Friday Position Summary:
An emergency vehicle technician (EVT) performs highly skilled diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on apparatus such as fire trucks and ambulances. Responsible for ensuring that complex systems, including heavy-duty diesel engines, hydraulics, fire pumps, and aerial devices -operate reliably under emergency conditions. Responsibilities Perform routine service and repairs on heavy-duty truck chassis, engines, transmissions, braking systems (including air brakes), and electrical systems Repair fire pumps, aerial devices (ladders), and emergency lighting/communications systems Utilize advanced diagnostic technology and computer software to identify malfunctions in diesel fuel systems, hydraulics, and electrical components Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition Wear and maintain all required PPE Comply with all safety regulations Support team members with vehicle repair and prep tasks as needed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years' experience preferred in heavy-duty truck or heavy equipment maintenance Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills are crucial Attention to detail ASE and EVT certifications are not required, but highly desirable Heavy truck inspection license a plus A CDL, Class A or B is not required, but highly desirable to operate, road-test, and transport Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently Must supply own tools Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 lbs.; frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stretching, reaching, fine and gross manipulation Additional Details
