Job Description

JOB DUTIES
- Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identify worn and damaged parts.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and make repairs to equipment. Brakes, power and drive trains, electrical, suspension, air conditioning, fuel, emission, steering hydraulics.
- Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
- Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements for inspection.
- Contain costs by evaluating service and parts options.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, staying current in the field by reading technical and regulations publications.
- Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring value add to job accomplishments.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High School graduate
- Post secondary vocation education preferred
- 3 to 4 years of diesel mechanic experience
- PA state inspection license, Class 7
- Class A CDL license preferred
- Minimum tool requirement
- Experience with diagnostic software preferred
- Experience with hydraulic systems preferred
- Good communication skills; ability to effectively work with a broad range of people
- Adept with technology; familiar with electronic scan tool
