Diesel Mechanic Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour Position Overview At Miles Truck Service , we're looking for a Mobile Heavy Duty Alignment Specialist / Diesel Mechanic based out of Elkhart / South Bend, IN . In this role, you'll travel to customer locations performing wheel alignments, suspension diagnostics, steering repairs, and related mechanical repairs on medium- and heavy-duty trucks. You'll operate a fully equipped mobile service truck, helping customers maximize tire life, improve vehicle performance, and minimize downtime. This is a fast-paced, goal oriented environment, serving multiple customer locations in the same day. Key Responsibilities Perform computerized wheel alignments on medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Diagnose and repair steering and suspension components affecting vehicle alignment. Inspect and identify worn or damaged suspension, steering, axle, and chassis components. Perform front-end repairs necessary to restore proper alignment specifications. Measure frame, axle, and suspension geometry to identify alignment concerns. Perform preventive maintenance and light mechanical repairs as needed. Accurately document inspections, repairs, and alignment specifications. Educate customers on tire wear, suspension issues, and recommended repairs. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional mobile service truck. Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards. Collaborate with dispatch, fleet managers, service advisors, and shop leadership to ensure timely customer service. Qualifications 3+ years of experience performing heavy-duty truck alignments, suspension repairs, or diesel truck repairs preferred but not required Experience with computerized heavy-duty alignment equipment preferred.
Strong understanding of:
Steering systems Suspension systems Axle alignment Tire wear analysis Frame geometry Ability to diagnose pull, drift, vibration, and abnormal tire wear concerns. Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs. Mobile service experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills. Ability to lift 50-100lbs Ability to work independently while delivering excellent customer service. Valid driver's license required (CDL is a plus but not required). ASE certifications (T4, T5, T6, T8) or alignment certifications are preferred but not required.
