Job Description

Under general supervision, Performs repair and maintenance service for agency's vehicle and equipment fleet, inspects gasoline powered vehicles and equipment to assess the repair and maintenance needed, supervises inmate worker and provides hands on training in the automotive repair field, performs after hour vehicle recovery services on an on-call basis, assists in maintaining tool, material, equipment and supply inventories at vehicle maintenance facility. Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire. State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
Work experience involving the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma with five (5) years of extensive experience in repair & maintenance of diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment. Position requires experience with diesel powered vehicles and heavy equipment to diagnose and perform the required repairs/maintenance. Must obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) within six (6) months of employment. Must obtain class A CDL with P - Endorsement within six (6) months of employment.
