Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Class A Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diesel engine repair, heavy equipment maintenance, and automotive diagnostics. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles and heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety. The position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse fleet, including tractor-trailers, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and construction vehicles. Candidates with dealership experience, fabrication skills, and proficiency with schematics are highly preferred. This is a full-time position committed to delivering exceptional service and technical expertise in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, shocks & struts, and other vehicle components Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, wheel alignments, and fluid checks Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques for assembly and equipment repair tasks Fabricate parts or components as needed using fabrication tools and techniques Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently Read and interpret schematics for complex mechanical systems to facilitate accurate repairs Conduct vehicle inspections to identify issues related to automotive diagnostics and mechanical failures Perform welding and other fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment or vehicles Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed Adhere to safety protocols during all maintenance activities to ensure a safe working environment Requirements Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician; dealership experience is highly desirable Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools Experience working with heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers Mechanical knowledge related to HVAC systems, suspension components, shocks & struts, brakes & wheel alignments Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various repair scenarios Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnostics and repairs Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs This position requires a motivated individual committed to maintaining high standards of quality workmanship while adhering to safety regulations. Candidates should possess a strong work ethic combined with technical expertise in automotive repair and heavy equipment maintenance.
