Truck Mechanic Job Description This role offers the opportunity to work as a truck mechanic in a dynamic, fast-paced fabrication environment, focusing on modifying truck chassis, bodies, and interiors while performing complex mechanical inspections, repairs, and upgrades with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Modify truck chassis, bodies, and interiors according to specifications and project requirements. Perform drilling and bolt-style modifications on trucks using appropriate tools and methods. Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers and related equipment when applicable. Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and modifications with minimal supervision, ensuring quality and safety standards. Support welding, fabrication, and hydraulic system work when needed, if experience allows. Provide technical assistance to helpers and less experienced team members as required. Orient and help train new employees on procedures, tools, and safety practices as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor to support overall operations. Report to the Operations Manager for direction on additional duties and priorities. Work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) when business needs require it. Maintain and use a personal toolbox and tools to perform daily tasks efficiently and safely. Essential Skills Hands-on experience working with trucks in a mechanical or fabrication setting. Ability to modify truck chassis, bodies, and interiors using hand and power tools. Proficiency in performing drilling and bolt-style modifications on trucks. Capability to diagnose complex mechanical and electronic issues using diagnostic computers when applicable. Skill in completing detailed mechanical inspections and modifications with minimal supervision. Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in diesel, mechanical, electrical, and engine repair or maintenance. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Must have and maintain a personal toolbox suitable for truck mechanical and fabrication work. Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed based on business demands. Additional Skills & Qualifications Diesel engine repair experience is preferred but not required. Experience with diesel maintenance and diesel repair is a plus. Skill in hydraulics and hydraulic systems is highly beneficial. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Experience working with truck electrical systems is advantageous. Ability to provide technical assistance, mentor helpers, and support training of new employees. Comfort working with diagnostic computers and electronic troubleshooting tools. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a fabrication environment that is dynamic and fast-paced, focused on truck modifications and mechanical work. The facility is dirty, dusty, and non-climate controlled, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions. You will use a variety of mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic tools, including your own toolbox, to perform drilling, bolt-style modifications, inspections, and repairs on truck chassis, bodies, interiors, and related systems. Overtime may be required based on business needs, and you will work closely with supervisors, helpers, and other technicians to complete projects safely and efficiently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denton, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
