Job Description

Job Overview We are looking for an experienced and dependable Heavy Tractor Trailer Diesel Mechanic to join our team. You'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Class 7 & 8 commercial trucks and trailers to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, and drive axles Perform preventive maintenance (PM services) on tractor trailers per DOT standards Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and air brake systems Use diagnostic software (Cummins Insite, Detroit Diesel DDDL, Allison DOC, etc.) Repair and replace components including starters, alternators, fuel systems, and cooling systems Inspect and repair trailer components — landing gear, kingpins, glad hands, lights, and refrigeration units Ensure all repairs meet DOT compliance and safety regulations Document all work orders accurately and completely Mentor and assist junior technicians when needed Requirements 7+ years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience with Class 7 & 8 trucks Strong knowledge of major engine brands: Cummins, Detroit, PACCAR, Volvo, Caterpillar Proficiency with transmission systems: Eaton Fuller, Allison, Meritor Experience with air brake systems and DOT inspection procedures Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals Proficient with diagnostic software and scan tools Valid CDL (preferred) or ability to move/test vehicles on-site Must supply own basic hand tools Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop environment Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently Preferred Qualifications ASE certifications (T1-T8 preferred) Experience with sand and gravel trailers (Cps, Cts, and armorlite) Welding experience a plus Previous experience in a fleet or OEM shop environment What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Health, dental & vision insurance Matching 401K Paid time off & holidays Uniforms provided Ongoing training and certification support Stable, year-round work

$32.00 - $37.00 per hour
