Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years' experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, particularly with heavy trucks and various types of machinery. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are in optimal working condition to support our operations. Duties Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles, including tractor-trailers, excavators, cranes, and forklifts. Conduct diagnostics to identify mechanical issues using automotive diagnostic tools and schematics. Repair or replace components such as transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics and suspension systems. Execute welding and fabrication tasks as needed for equipment repair and enhancement. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and heavy lifting techniques safely and effectively. Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on each vehicle or piece of equipment. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with team members and clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs. Assist with tire service, brake repair, shocks & struts replacement, alignment adjustments, and other mechanical tasks as required. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive repair and maintenance. Proficiency in working with heavy equipment operation including forklifts and industrial equipment. Familiarity with diesel engine repair processes and techniques. Experience with electrical systems in vehicles is preferred; soldering skills are a plus. Ability to read schematics for troubleshooting purposes. Previous experience working in a dealership setting is advantageous. Capability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail in all tasks performed. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
