Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, supporting operations across various industries including development, construction, and management. This position offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment while contributing to a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools. Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and air brake system inspections. Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational requirements. Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, forklifts, and tractor-trailers for testing or repair purposes. Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues efficiently. Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications; perform vehicle alignment and wheel balancing as required. Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all repairs performed; adhere to safety protocols at all times. Skills Proven experience working in a heavy equipment repair setting. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and automotive electrical systems. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other fabrication tools. Familiarity with heavy equipment operation including (but not limited to) excavators, dozers, forklifts, dump trucks, and skid steers . Ability to read schematics accurately and perform automotive diagnostics efficiently. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members. Physical ability for heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions; commitment to safety standards.
