In this role, you will be responsible for traveling to job sites, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and longevity of machinery used including transportation, construction, agriculture, and industrial operations. Requirements:
Complete understanding of the operation, maintenance, servicing, trouble shooting and repairs necessary on heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, large farm equipment, pick-up trucks, and small tools and equipment. Physical Ability to stand, sit, bend, crouch, use fingers and hands to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. Must be able to lift &/or carry 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed. Required to work outside in all the elements with constant exposure to dirt, dust, and outdoor temperatures for up to 10 hours a day, along with direct sunlight and exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Familiar with Cummins Insite, CAT ET, etc Valid Driver License - CDL is a plus Dependable transportation to the shop, as well as proper clothing for the environment. Must provide the tools necessary to outfit your assigned Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug screening. Understanding that shop hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be willing to work overtime, and weekends as necessary and to be on-call for emergencies. Duties Conduct Field visits to perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and other vehicle components using schematics and automotive diagnostic tools. Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and power tools. Operate heavy machinery safely during maintenance procedures or testing phases. Interpret technical schematics and manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues efficiently. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and belt replacements to prevent breakdowns. Maintain detailed records of repairs performed, parts used, and service history for each vehicle or piece of equipment. Keep and accurate log of all work performed and report to the Shop Manager. Ensure all work complies with safety regulations related to air brake systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and general vehicle maintenance. Assist in the assembly of new equipment or machinery when required. Provide clear communication about repair timelines and maintenance needs. Document and return any unused parts and communicate with Shop Manager immediately. Experience 3-5 Years of proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engines and heavy equipment repair in a dealership or industrial setting. Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including transmissions, hydraulics, electrical components, suspension systems, and tire service. Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics tools and schematics interpretation. Familiarity with operating heavy machinery like excavators, cranes, forklifts (including power tools), tractor-trailers, farm machinery, and industrial equipment. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs. Knowledge of safety standards related to air brakes (including inspection), alignment procedures, shocks & struts replacement, wheel balancing, HVAC servicing, and general vehicle maintenance. Familiar with Cummins Insite, CAT ET, etc. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly team members. Mechanical or electrical certifications are advantageous but not mandatory; relevant hands-on experience is essential. Join us in keeping our fleet running smoothly!
