Diesel Technician/Mechanic
Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel equipment, including trucks, construction machinery, and industrial vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of equipment used across various industries. This position offers an exciting opportunity for hands-on work with diverse machinery, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and mechanical skills to keep our fleet operating smoothly and efficiently. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension components, and electrical systems using schematics and technical manuals. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, alignment adjustments, shocks & struts replacement, and general vehicle inspections to prevent future issues. Fabricate parts or modify equipment using welding and hand tools to meet specific repair or customization needs. Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers to test functionality or assist in repairs. Utilize automotive electrical systems knowledge to troubleshoot complex electrical issues in heavy machinery and farm equipment. Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document repairs accurately for compliance and future reference. Support customer service efforts by providing clear communication about repair processes and estimated timelines. Requirements Proven dealership or heavy equipment mechanic experience with a strong background in diesel engine repair. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals related to heavy machinery and automotive systems. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and metalworking. Familiarity with operating excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other industrial equipment. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures such as tire service, brake repair, suspension alignment, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and power tools operation. Mechanical knowledge of transmissions, vehicle systems repair, air brake systems, shocks & struts, and automotive electrical systems. Ability to lift heavy components safely and perform heavy lifting tasks regularly. Strong problem-solving skills combined with excellent customer service abilities. Relevant certifications or training in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment operation are preferred but not mandatory.
