Sunday hours may be occasionally required during Winter months.
Requirements for this position include:
high school graduation, diesel mechanic work experience (transit/bus preferred) or diesel mechanic education; good employment record; valid CDL or ability to immediately obtain a CDL; excellent driving record; and pass post-offer medical exam and drug screen. Garage is heated & has air conditioning. Wage based upon experience, starting at $24.00/hour. Major Duties Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel transit buses, service vehicles, facilities, and support equipment. 30% Diagnose, test, repair, recondition and maintain buses, service vehicles, and equipment systems such as engine, transmission, hybrid, electrical, air system, heating and air conditioning, brakes, chassis, suspension, and all subsystems. 30% Perform chassis and body repairs. (minor paint work). 20% Assist all shop employees with repairs as needed. 10% Supervise Fueler crew on a daily basis. Less Frequent Duties Repair, mount, dismount, brand and tires. Perform road service calls/repairs, tow buses as required. Fuel buses, check fluid levels and top off. Record amount on the proper forms. Park buses in assigned locations. Maintain grounds, building, transit center, bus benches and shelters. Snow removal, mount and dismount plows on trucks. Operate a large passenger vehicle in moderate to heavy traffic. Maintain good housekeeping standards. Follow all safety practices and standards. May serve as a member of various employee committees. Perform other duties as assigned
