About the
Role:
The Power & Reliability Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of electrical power systems across various facilities. This position focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing power generation and distribution equipment to maximize system reliability and minimize downtime. The technician will work closely with engineering and operations teams to implement preventive maintenance programs and respond promptly to power system failures or irregularities. By analyzing system performance data and conducting routine inspections, the technician helps identify potential issues before they escalate, thereby supporting overall grid stability and safety. Ultimately, this role contributes to delivering consistent and reliable power to customers while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical technology or related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with electrical power systems, including maintenance and troubleshooting. Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites within the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Journeyman Electrician or equivalent electrical trade certification. Experience with SCADA systems and power system monitoring software. Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Familiarity with renewable energy systems and integration with traditional power grids. Advanced troubleshooting skills using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electrical power generation and distribution equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues to restore power system functionality promptly. Collaborate with engineering teams to implement and improve preventive maintenance schedules and reliability programs. Monitor system performance data and conduct tests to identify potential reliability risks or equipment degradation. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, industry standards, and regulatory requirements during all maintenance and repair activities. Document maintenance activities, equipment status, and incident reports accurately for operational records and audits. Respond to emergency power outages or equipment failures, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.

Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints enables accurate diagnosis and repair of complex electrical equipment. Communication and collaboration skills are used to coordinate with engineering teams and document maintenance activities clearly. Additionally, adherence to safety standards and regulatory knowledge ensures all work is performed safely and compliantly, protecting both personnel and infrastructure.
