The opportunity Are you a seasoned substation professional who thrives in hands‑on, high‑impact environments? Join Hitachi Energy as a Senior Electrical Substation Technician, where your expertise will play a critical role in maintaining and operating high‑voltage infrastructure that supports the reliable transmission of power. In this site‑based role (location, Albuquerque NM) , you'll work at a high‑voltage substation facility, including an HVDC power transfer station, where safety, precision, and technical excellence come first. You'll be trusted to independently execute complex switching, grounding, testing, and troubleshooting activities while working with advanced electrical and digital control systems. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy in the field, takes pride in technical craftsmanship, and wants to contribute to projects that directly support the energy transition. You'll collaborate closely with operations and engineering teams, support commissioning and outage activities, and help ensure substations operate safely and reliably every day. How you'll make an impact Maintain and repair high‑voltage substation equipment Perform independent high‑voltage switching and grounding Conduct electrical testing to NETA standards Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues Operate and support digital control and power transfer systems Interpret one‑line diagrams, schematics, and wiring drawings Support commissioning, maintenance, and outage activities Champion safety and ensure compliance with NFPA 70E and site rules Your background 10+ years of hands‑on substation maintenance experience NETA Level II+ or NICET Level II+ certification
