Job Title:
Relay Technician IIJob Description The Relay Technician II performs essential electrical testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of relays in electrical power stations with minimal supervision. This role involves utilizing relay test equipment and tools to test various types of relays within electrical substations. Responsibilities + Drive locally/regionally on a daily basis and be available for periodic overnight travel. + Lead and promote a Safety Culture while being responsible for other team members. + Perform installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment. + Develop written standard commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures for protective relaying. + Conduct function testing of substation control circuits on relay panels, transformers, and circuit breakers. + Develop relay macros and testing routines with confirmation of proper protection and control design. + Execute end-to-end relay testing using relay test software and analyze the operation of the relay based on fault types. + Examine relay settings and logic equations to confirm system operation according to design. + Develop testing and isolation procedures for outages. + Perform communication installations and testing (SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus, Fiber, etc.). + Conduct circuit analysis (Equipment Protective Relays, Instrumentation Transformers, AC, DC, & System). Essential Skills + Minimum of 6 years of experience in the electrical power, utility, industrial, electrical contractor, or related field environment. + Hands-on experience with electrical systems, electrical equipment, or power distribution equipment. + Experience in electrical testing, commissioning, or maintenance. + Comfortable working in the field 95% of the time. + NETA certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications + NETA Certification or equivalent experience. + Experience in Data Center environments is a plus. Work Environment The position is ideally based in Nashville, with possibilities in Murfreesboro, Clarksville, and Cookeville, TN. The company provides a company vehicle with a gas card, a company card for hotel expenses, and per diem for travel. Employees receive $200 annually for boot allowance, $150 annually for prescription safety goggles if needed, and $750 annually for fire retardant clothing. Additionally, the company offers cellphones and laptops to employees. There are opportunities for NETA certification training and preparation classes 2-3 times a year, with pay increases and bonuses for achieving NETA Level II, III, and IV certifications. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
