Energy Tech (Levels 1 -Senior) Position Summary The Energy Technician performs construction, maintenance, and service-related work on the electric distribution system, including overhead and underground power lines. This position supports the safe and reliable delivery of electrical service through line construction, troubleshooting, restoration activities, equipment operation, and system maintenance. Opportunities are available across multiple technician levels based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated skills. Key Responsibilities Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. Restore electrical service and troubleshoot outages and system issues. Install, maintain, and modify electrical lines, services, and related apparatus. Re-conductor, upgrade, or convert existing distribution facilities. Operate and maintain utility vehicles, tools, and specialized equipment. Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and work practices. Support emergency response efforts and participate in on-call rotations as required. Maintain work records, job documentation, and operational reports. Assist in job planning, crew coordination, and training activities. Perform dispatching or switching responsibilities when qualified. Support team objectives and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Experience requirements vary by level, ranging from entry-level (3 months to 1 year) through senior-level positions requiring 5¿7 years of electric utility or related experience. Equivalent combinations of education and related experience may be considered. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required and must meet company driving standards. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Working knowledge of electric utility construction, maintenance, and service practices. Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions. Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Basic to advanced mathematical and problem-solving abilities, depending on level. Ability to plan work, maintain records, and train or mentor others as experience increases. Physical Requirements Ability to climb poles and perform physically demanding utility work. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of equipment and materials. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and pull up to 75 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions. Work Environment Primarily outdoor construction, maintenance, and emergency response work. Exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, and energized electrical equipment. Participation in overtime and on-call assignments may be required.
