Position Overview Power Solutions Group is seeking Field Service Engineers with electrical and/or mechanical aptitude who enjoy solving complex problems, working independently, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role offers significant variety, autonomy, and hands-on experience with power distribution systems across the Northeast. What You'll Do Lead on-site maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical power distribution equipment.
Perform protective relay testing independently or as part of a team.
Manage engineering projects ranging from small assignments to large-scale customer initiatives.
Apply engineering principles, codes, and standards to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical systems.
Provide technical support, quality control, and documentation for assigned projects.
Read and interpret power system wiring diagrams, including DC elementary drawings.
Adhere to all electrical safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
Demonstrate strong theoretical understanding of electricity and practical problem-solving skills.
Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, peers, and leadership.
Coordinate work at customer sites and resolve issues as they arise.
Deliver excellent customer service, follow-up, and time management.
Work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight travel.
Associate degree or higher in a related field-or equivalent relevant experience.
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze electrical drawings and schematics.
Working knowledge of electrical power distribution, short-circuit analysis, coordination, and arc-flash hazards (NFPA 70E) is a plus.
Experience testing electromechanical or digital protective relays is highly desirable.
AutoCAD experience is beneficial.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Strong organizational, logistical, written, and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications NETA Level II certification or higher.
Familiarity with NETA acceptance and maintenance testing procedures is a plus.
Experience with protective relaying applications and field testing.
Prior field service or power systems engineering experience.
