Field Service Technician (Mesa, AZ, US, 85210-6105) Komatsu Mesa, AZ 85209 Posted 10 days Join Komatsu and Be Part of Something Big! Job Overview Komatsu is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician (FST) to support open-pit mining operations, with a strong focus on electric mining shovels and large gear case components . This role is ideal for technicians who have worked on shovels or drills, millwright (ball mills, crushers) or gear case-focused technician who enjoys hands-on work in the field and wants to work on some of the largest equipment in the industry. What You'll Do
  • Perform field service maintenance and repairs on electric mining shovels , primarily in open-pit mine environments
  • Change and rebuild major shovel components , including large gear cases
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot complex equipment systems
  • Work closely with mine site teams to ensure equipment uptime and safe operation
  • Travel extensively to mine sites (AZ mostly, some NM and CA)
  • Work long shifts (12 hours) and a 6‑day-on schedule in the field Key Job Responsibilities
  • Primary focus on a safe work environment and employing safe work practices on a consistent basis.
  • Lay out and perform complex repairs with a high level of accuracy and quality.
  • Assess equipment repair needs and develop repair processes.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and perform minor and major repairs to all assigned equipment.
  • Work in a diverse team environment.
  • Always work efficiently and productively to maintain a billable rate according to department and company objectives.
  • Minimize loss/spoilage of raw or in process materials.
  • Lead service crews to ensure that work is done safely, efficiently, and cost effectively to meet SLQDC.
  • Any other requirements that may come from the department manager.
  • Lead daily safety meetings.
  • Collect and review FLRA cards.
  • Conduct shift start /daily line out meetings.
  • Periodic inspection of tooling and PPE. Qualifications/Requirements
  • Prior experience working on gear boxes, shovels or drills highly preferred
  • Knowledge with troubleshooting skills in hydraulics, low voltage electrical and mechanical components.
  • Ability to interpret and understand complicated drawings, specifications, charts and tables and handbook formulas
  • Ability to use all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
  • Over 3 years in similar job experience.
