Job Description

GEN‑TECH is a full‑service industrial power generator provider serving Arizona, Southern Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico. For 35+ years, we've supported mission‑critical operations with new equipment sales, rentals, service, parts, fueling, and technical training. As we grow, we're looking for driven sales professionals to build new pipelines, deepen customer partnerships, and expand revenue within assigned territories. Overview GEN‑TECH is seeking an experienced Generator Technician to support critical site and life support power systems. In this role, you will perform preventive maintenance, load bank testing, field diagnosis, repair, and verification testing on stand‑alone and paralleling generator systems ranging from 100 kW to 2000 kW. Our Tucson office has openings for a Power Generator Field Service Technician. What impact will you have? You'll become an important member of a growing, fun-loving, hardworking, determined team. You will hold yourself to high standards; your impact will be significant, and it will be immediate. You'll fit right in. Willing to train technicians with 2-3 years military experience in generators. Essential Duties Preventative maintenance, load bank, field diagnosis, repair and testing of Critical Site, and Life Support Generators 100kW
  • 2000kW, Stand-alone and Paralleling Troubleshoot at the Paralleling level
PLC and Control Panels Generator Controls:
H Panel, Voltage Regulator. Diagnosis and repair of electrical components: Paralleling switchgear, Automatic Transfer Switches, Distribution gear, Transformers, Service Panels Working knowledge of D/C and A/C electrical systems; knowledge and skills to operate and understand diagnostic equipment including computerized instrumentation. Working knowledge of Diesel, Natural Gas, LP Vapor engine maintenance, repair and troubleshooting. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Training/Certifications:
3-year experience or equivalent in power generation industry. Field Service Technician experience.
Safety Training:
OSHA 10
Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to work independently in the field as a Service Field Technician. Be able to communicate (in English) verbally, writing, information, instructions and explanations to associates, clients and management regarding vehicle/component/equipment conditions, problems, recommendations, and service processes. Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies & procedures and use of all required safety equipment. Knowledge of load banks, NFPA 110/ Life Safety a plus Valid driver's license
  • Clean driving record. Ability to drive large trucks and tow equipment. Provide/Maintain personal hand tools. Consistent attendance. Ability to work irregular hours, overtime, after hours On-Call, travel
  • Required Good customer service/communication skills at all times Extensive/Proficient-experience/knowledge of D/C and A/C electrical systems Extensive/Proficient-experience/knowledge of Generator operation, controls, maintenance and repairs Extensive/Proficient-knowledge of Diesel, Natural Gas, LP Vapor engine overhaul, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting
