Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Field Service Technician (Level 3) to join our Industrial Service Team, with a specific focus on automatic transfer switches and generator control systems. This is a role for a seasoned technician who has seen it all — someone who can walk onto a site, diagnose a complex transfer or control issue, and resolve it right the first time. You will work in high-stakes environments where downtime is not an option. Strict adherence to method-of-procedure protocols, impeccable site etiquette, and a "first-time right" approach are essential. As a Level 3 technician, you'll also serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior team members. While transfer switch and controls mastery is what sets this role apart, this remains a hands-on field service position. The right candidate takes pride in doing the fundamentals well — preventative maintenance, oil and filter changes, load bank testing, and routine service — and never considers that work beneath them. We're looking for a senior technician who brings specialized expertise while still rolling up their sleeves alongside the team.

Key Responsibilities Transfer Switch Expertise:

Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair automatic transfer switches (ATS) across a range of manufacturers and configurations.

Generator Controls:

Diagnose, program, and calibrate generator control systems and instrumentation, resolving complex control and communication faults in the field.

Controller Upgrades:

Support and perform generator controller upgrades and retrofits to modern control platforms (a strong plus).

Mission-Critical Maintenance:

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on large-scale industrial generators and associated switchgear.

Advanced Testing:

Lead load bank testing and system functional testing to ensure reliability of backup power systems.

Professional Communication:

Provide clear, technical debriefs to facility managers and internal engineers, maintaining a high standard of conduct in demanding environments.

Emergency Response:

Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule, responding with urgency to critical power failures.

Documentation:

Maintain meticulous records of service reports, sensor calibrations, and system parameters to meet strict audit requirements.

Mentorship:

Serve as a senior technical resource, guiding and training Level 1 and Level 2 technicians. Qualifications ATS Experience (Required): Extensive hands-on experience installing, servicing, and troubleshooting automatic transfer switches. This is the core of the role and a non-negotiable requirement. Generator Controls (Strongly Preferred): Solid working experience with generator control systems — programming, calibration, and fault diagnosis. Controller Upgrades (Preferred): Experience performing generator controller upgrades or retrofits to modern control platforms.

Technical Mastery:

Deep understanding of electrical systems, control wiring, and instrumentation. Familiarity with paralleling switchgear and high-voltage configurations is a bonus.

Professionalism:

Exceptional soft skills and a polished demeanor; the ability to represent the company effectively in high-security, high-pressure environments.

Precision & Detail:

A disciplined approach to following complex technical manuals and site-specific procedures without deviation.

Logistics:

Valid driver's license and the ability to travel across Northern California and the Central Valley for on-site service.

Physical Ability:
