Customer job sites and the 317 Lights facilityABOUT THE ROLE
The Field Service Technician III is the senior technical role on a 317 Lights crew. This position is a great fit for an experienced installer who can perform the most challenging work, organize the day at the job site, guide less-experienced technicians, and keep safety and quality at the center of every decision. You will coordinate the approved work plan, solve advanced installation and troubleshooting problems, communicate with customers and the Field Service Supervisor, and make sure the crew leaves behind a finished display everyone can be proud of.WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
- You will serve as the senior on-site technical resource and help shape the performance, safety, and development of the entire crew without carrying formal personnel-management responsibilities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Review work orders, property notes, photographs, measurements, customer requirements, materials, and schedule expectations before work begins.
- Conduct the on-site pre-job briefing, coordinate task sequence and material flow, and reinforce safety and quality expectations.
- Perform advanced installation and removal work on complex rooflines, multi-story elevations, tall trees, and difficult architectural features.
- Diagnose complex or intermittent issues involving bulbs, fuses, connectors, cords, timers, transformers, moisture, circuit loading, and power distribution.
- Inspect ladder placement, fall protection, equipment condition, work-zone setup, cord routing, and employee work practices.
- Pause or stop work when conditions create an immediate safety concern and promptly communicate with the Field Service Supervisor.
- Complete final visual and operational checks and communicate delays, material shortages, customer requests, property concerns, and follow-up needs.
- Train and coach Field Service Technicians I and II on installation methods, troubleshooting, equipment care, removal procedures, and quality standards.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three to five years of related lighting, field installation, roofing, construction, electrical-support, tree work, property-maintenance, or similar experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in elevated installation, custom fitting, troubleshooting, ladder use, fall protection, and job-site safety.
- Ability to independently organize an assigned crew's daily work within established procedures and authority.
- Strong technical judgment, communication, customer-service skills, and attention to finished quality.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to repeatedly climb, descend, work from, and reposition step and extension ladders throughout the workday.
- Ability to work for sustained periods at roof edges, peaks, gables, tall trees, ladders, and authorized aerial lifts.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, and overhead reaching on elevated, sloped, wet, or uneven surfaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and assist with long ladders, tools, material bundles, and other awkward items.
- Ability to push, pull, load, unload, secure, and control ladders and equipment around vehicles and customer property.
- Ability to work outdoors in seasonal weather, wear required fall-protection equipment, and maintain concentration while coordinating others and performing technical work at height.
