Job Description Oxbow Machine Products is a Tier 1 supplier serving multiple automotive manufacturers. We design and build custom lift-assist equipment, secure tooling, fixtures, and material-handling solutions used in automotive assembly plants. We are seeking a mechanically inclined Field Service Technician to support the installation, commissioning, adjustment, and troubleshooting of our tooling at customer facilities. This position requires frequent travel to automotive assembly plants, where the technician will represent Oxbow and coordinate with customers, plant trades, project managers, and other contractors. Before each installation, the technician will receive the applicable tooling lineup, station layout, drawings, and project information from the Project Manager. The technician will then be responsible for verifying that the equipment is installed in the correct location, properly assembled, adjusted to the intended product or vehicle, and operating as designed. Plant trades will typically perform or assist with portions of the installation. The Field Service Technician will oversee the installation from Oxbow's perspective, answer tooling-related questions, identify and resolve issues, document progress, and communicate project status to both the customer and Oxbow management. Installation assignments may last from one or two days to several weeks. Travel may include locations throughout the United States and, when required, outside the country (USA, Canada, and Mexico). Work schedules are determined by customer production schedules and may include overtime, night shifts, weekends, and holidays. When not assigned to a customer installation, the Field Service Technician will work at Oxbow's Livonia, Michigan facility. While in the shop, the technician will work with the Shop Foreman and other team members to assemble, test, adjust, and prepare tooling for upcoming installations. Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee the installation of Oxbow tooling at customer facilities. Verify that tooling is installed according to station layouts, lineups, drawings, and project requirements. Perform tooling tune-in, commissioning, and final adjustments for the applicable product or vehicle. Mechanically troubleshoot tooling, fixtures, lift assists, and related equipment. Work with plant trades, contractors, customers, Project Managers, and Oxbow personnel to resolve installation issues. Confirm that tooling operates safely and performs as intended before project completion. Attend customer meetings and provide clear updates regarding installation progress, open issues, and completion status. Maintain detailed daily logs, installation records, photographs, punch lists, and service reports. Communicate schedule changes, design concerns, missing components, and field modifications to Oxbow management. Assist with fixture assembly, testing, adjustment, and preparation at Oxbow's Livonia facility when not traveling. Maintain an organized work area and follow Oxbow and customer safety requirements. Perform additional field service, shop, and project-related duties as assigned. Requirements Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to work hands-on with industrial tooling and equipment. Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, tradespeople, contractors, and coworkers. Ability to read and understand station layouts, tooling lineups, mechanical drawings, and assembly information. Ability to identify mechanical problems and work with the appropriate personnel to develop practical solutions. Ability to document work accurately and provide clear written and verbal project updates. Dependable, organized, self-motivated, and able to work with limited supervision while traveling. Willingness to travel for assignments lasting anywhere from one day to several weeks. Willingness to work overtime, night shifts, weekends, and holidays when required by customer schedules. Willingness and ability to travel throughout the United States and internationally when required. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
