Job Title:
Mitigation Technician Job Description The Mitigation Technician works closely with a site lead to perform demolition, cleanup, and restoration tasks in properties affected by fire or water damage. This role involves assessing damaged areas, documenting all work accurately, setting up cleaning systems, and safely handling heavy materials throughout the day. Responsibilities Work directly with a site lead and follow all work direction and project plans. Perform demolition of walls, flooring, and other damaged materials in homes and buildings affected by fire or water. Help assess the extent of fire or water damage throughout the property and identify materials that require removal or remediation. Document all processes and work performed using iPads and enter information accurately into the company database. Set up and operate cleaning systems and equipment as needed to support mitigation and restoration activities. Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds, with frequent lifting of 45-50 pounds throughout the day. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area during demolition and cleanup activities. Follow safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment while working inside and outside damaged homes. Communicate effectively with the site lead and team members to ensure timely completion of tasks. Support additional tasks related to mitigation and restoration as directed by the site lead. Essential Skills At least 6 months of experience working in the fire or water damage mitigation or restoration industry. Ability and willingness to lift and carry up to 75 pounds consistently, with frequent lifting of 45-50 pounds throughout the day. Basic data entry skills for documenting work in a company database. Construction-related experience, particularly in demolition of walls, flooring, and other building materials. Inspection experience related to assessing fire or water damage in residential or similar environments. Ability to follow directions from a site lead and work effectively as part of a team. Attention to detail when documenting processes and damage assessments using digital tools such as iPads. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience working inside and outside homes with fire or water damage. Comfort using tablets or similar devices for digital documentation and reporting. Strong work ethic and reliability in a physically demanding, hands-on role. Willingness to work occasional overtime depending on workload and project needs. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a full-time role with a typical schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime available at times depending on the week and project demands. You will work both inside and outside homes that have experienced water or fire damage, often in environments that may be wet, smoky, or under active cleanup. The work is physically demanding and involves frequent lifting, carrying, and demolition tasks. The dress code includes company-provided T-shirts, long pants, and steel-toed boots or shoes to ensure safety on-site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Billings, MT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
